Beavis and Butthead's Return. Was it worth it?

Yes...for the first 15 minutes or so. The first story was current and hysterical. The second story felt it should've been a montage rather than an entire episode. Felt a little pointless, but then again in the world of Beavis and Butthead it kind of worked. Truth is each episode felt too short.

The commentary:

The first two music videos were the right length for my attention span, but I felt the commentary was, while funny, drawn out. It made the videos feel longer than they really were.

I like the new reality show aspect added but I felt it was the reverse of the music videos. The commentary was funny and the right amount of length but the clips were too long.

While I felt the return of Beavis and Butthead was flawed, it was still good. I'm glad they're back!

Word to Final Draft

Currently pasting all my scripts (pre-Masters Program) into Final Draft from Word. AMAZING how I did a two year screenwriting program on Word but, ANNOYING, the process it takes to input it into Final Draft. But, pretty soon I'll have a professional body of work to send out...we're still allowed to draw cartoons on the cover pages right? ;-P

So, this is both versions of the PSA we shot on the Sony lot a few weeks back. It was really cool having both SU2C and LZP gather into Laura's office to watch it during the world series. Oh, and guess what we found out yesterday? We got paid for it too! Hoo-Sha!

I Know Who Killed Me...Almost Killed Me...

Sometime last week, on my quest to have everyone and their mother (in many cases literally) watch Ringer, I pitched the pilot to a co-worker. He in return told me it sounded a lot like the plot to I Know Who Killed Me. If you don't what I Know Who Killed Me is...well, what Freaky Friday was to Lindsay Lohan's "teen" image, this film was to her "downward spiral" image.

And like magic (I'm fairly sure my co-worker is a magical movie leprechaun, so I think that word is appropriate) I Know Who Killed Me ended up at Biglots, in a two pack along with one of my all time favorite films I Know What You Did Last Summer, for 3 bucks. I knew had I not bought it right there and then, that I would've been struck down by lightning.
Cut to me watching it, over the course of three days. No, it's not that long...but it is longer than it should be.

Rather than break it down into a review, I decided to copy and paste the frequent comments/ thoughts I had posted on both MY Facebook wall as well as that of my two of my fellow co-workers. Also, out of courtesy, SPOILER ALERT!

Oh snap i'm peeling the label, oh Lindsay looks so excited. I'm the only one since the movie came out in theaters to actually watch her. Oh look at that. the dvd art is of a blue flower. It so looks like the font from I Know What You Did Last Summer. Explains the 2pak. And the dvd's in!

Oh wow it already looks bad. The first shot looks like it was shot with my [$]300 digi palmcorder I got from Costco 4 years ago.

oh look at that, a homage to high school theater...no wait that's just really bad acting on Lohan and that guy who looks like an extra from That 70s show.

omFg is that the cat from Austin Powers back from the dead? cos it look it.

OMG she's gonna use her robotic hand to punch in the glass coffin like Superman. :;gasp:: She DID it!

awwwe, now they're crying while the sappy music plays. This is so Uptown Girls, only with robotic hands, glass coffins, and sparkles.

No aftermath? Pfft, laaaame.

OK finished I KNOW WHO KILLED ME. It's a Lifetime movie told with a big movie budget. Ironically, I feel if it actually were a Lifetime movie it would've been pretty good.

Failed TV Show Reboots

With the recent cancellation of the Charlie's Angels reboot. I ended up looking up some of my other favorite 70s icons. After doing so I have decided to give some credit to the Angels reboot, in that it actually got made into a series.

Here's just a few reboots that never ended up making it on the air.

1. WONDER WOMAN 2011 David E. Kelly pilot:

To be honest, this one wasn't bad. Well, if you excuse The Notebook scene which I felt was a bit much (then again with all my female friends it's also very realistic). The whole corporate angle didn't really phase me (then again I consider this a continuation of the 1975 The New Adventures of Wonder Woman series, though I don't believe it is). Sometimes, I felt we lingered a little too much in that world that the show lost focus on where it should be. But, the themes brought out through her corporation were really nice. The connection of loneliness and sacrifice between a non-human superhero and a corporate working woman really came through. Also, GREAT casting with Adrianne Palicki.

Special Note: She doe NOT wear the 'pants suit' throughout the entire pilot.

2. WONDER WOMAN (Who's Afraid of Diana Prince?) 1967:

 

Cute, but ridiculous. The clip is all there is and truth be told, is all I could handle. Not surprised that it didn't get developed further. Thankfully in 1975 they took a real crack at it and hence we ended up with ever classic Lynda Carter version =)

3. ELECTRA WOMAN 2001

 

Much like the Charlie's Angels films, this show took a look at its campy predecessor and decided to instead dive into the realm of comedy. Which, could have been a stroke of genious, had it been done properly. What we really are left with is an unfunny show with elements of Power Rangers and My Life is Earl, revolving around two unlikable characters (though I must admit I liked seeing Markie Post in the role of Electra Woman). Even the clutter of superhero cameos (Aquaman and The Flash) couldn't save this.
